Background to Queen Alfred Cakes

I have always loved baking. After many years of providing cakes and puddings for family and friends I decided to transform this passion for home baking into a business, and so Queen Alfred Cakes was born.

I started off baking each cake myself, working from my kitchen at home in Wadhurst, East Sussex to refine and develop my recipes. Seven years on and the business has gone from strength to strength. I now work alongside my son, Bobby, and chef David to provide a range of delicious homemade treats that are stocked by shops and cafés across the Weald. 

Our cakes range from classic English favourites to novel creations but whether traditional or innovative, they are all made using the finest ingredients, including fresh fruit and free range eggs. 

Our home-baked goods are free from artificial preservatives and beautifully presented to ensure that all of our products are of the highest quality. We’re committed to providing delicious artisan cakes from our farmhouse home kitchen.
